Sterile Processing is a surgical services department that is responsible for cleaning and preparing reusable surgical instrumentation to be terminally sterilized prior to performing surgery on patients.

While working in top hospitals across the country I've witnessed many unsafe environments and practices.

Only 5 states require Sterile Processing Technicians to be certified to clean and Sterilize surgical instruments.

Help us by signing this petition and pledge to uphold the highest standard of care in Sterile Processing Departments.

Nearly all of us are touched by surgery, let's make sure we all receive clean and sterile surgical instruments for our procedures. In many hospitals, SPD technicians are paid minimum wage, and don't have adequate thermal washers, sonic devices, and terminal sterilizers.

They work in unsafe conditions and are exposed to bloodborne pathogens daily.

Contact your local Senator and Representative and DEMAND your state adopt the Sterile Processing Legislation IMMEDIATELY! It could save your life!

The best surgeon in the world still needs us to give them clean and sterile surgical instrumentation so that patients and their families have good outcomes.

I solemnly swear before every patient

And in the presence of my esteemed community

To pass my life in decency

I will abstain from whatever is a distraction and malign

From providing the best possible practice

And will not knowingly provide an unsafe product

I will call myself to excellence

And elevate my industries recognition

I will not take shortcuts that compromise my patient

And I will not engage in unnecessary judgment

That makes it possible to achieve the dream
