The South Norwood Mosque and Islamic Centre has been open for 25 years and since that time women have been refused the facility of offering Jummah and Taraweeh prayers. They have also refused to provide  even a small area inside the mosque that women can use for daily prayers.

We feel this is unjust and deprives 50% of the Muslim community the right to prayer. It is also out of step with the majority of mosques around the country. Local Muslim women have to make an often long , inconvenient and potentially unsafe journey to and from other mosques to be able to pray. 

We demand that the management and trustees at South Norwood Islamic and Community Centre to stop this blatant discrimination immediately and provide space for women to offer daily, Jummah and Taraweeh prayers before the end of this Ramadan.
