Demand solidarity with Palestine at Iowa State University

Demand solidarity with Palestine at Iowa State University
The Issue
President Wintersteen,
Over the past 7 months, there has been a deafening silence from your offices regarding the genocide in Palestine and we, the community of Iowa State University, have noticed. As an educational facility, it would be hypocritical and unethical not to speak out against the war crimes Israel has committed and continues to commit. They have bombed residential complexes, refugee camps, hospitals, places of worship, and schools. As of now, there are no universities that are not damaged to some degree, if not completely destroyed. Experts agree: this is a textbook case of genocide.
Iowa State University has partnerships with multiple companies that are actively contributing to the slaughter of Palestinians, including Boeing, Collins Aerospace, and Lockheed Martin.
We, the Iowa State community, have 3 demands.
- Divest from companies and programs supporting and arming Israel, including but not limited to - Boeing, Collins Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, and the Binational Science Foundation.
- Full transparency of all university financial partnerships, investments, and donations.
- Release a statement of solidarity with Palestine and their liberation
From the ISU website, "Iowa State University embraces the values of our Principles of Community (Respect, Purpose, Cooperation, Richness of Diversity, Freedom from Discrimination, Honest and Respectful Expression of Ideas), and the values of Access, Excellence, and Integrity." However, the actions from this institution reflect none of their claimed "values".
We cannot continue to receive an education while schools and universities are being destroyed, while the Indigenous people of Palestine are forced to either flee or die. We are relying on you, Wendy, to represent the student body that you wish to lead.
