Personally, as a passionate follower of Formula 1, what I and several others value is informed and insightful commentary. Lately, however, my enjoyment of the sport is being hampered by Sky Sports’ decision to employ Danica Patrick as an F1 commentator. Mrs. Patrick's racing career was primarily in the USA, with limited success; her commentary contributions are often off-topic and focus more on her American conservative political opinions which are irrelevant to Formula 1.

It is widely accepted that Mrs. Patrick’s career stats are modest at best. According to Racing-Reference.info, she won only one race in her seven-year IndyCar career and none in her five-year NASCAR career, in contrast to the highly acclaimed F1 commentators who boast notable racing careers. This makes her insights on the sport questionable and less authoritative, with Sky Sports audience feeling the effects.

In a world of racing that is growing more global and inclusive, it's also disconcerting to see a commentator use her platform to discuss her political beliefs, especially those that may be polarizing to viewers. There is no place for divisive politics in the thrill-loaded Formula 1 sport where unity is essential.

Therefore, we urge Sky Sports to listen to us, the viewers, the fans - and replace Danica Patrick with a commentator whose credentials and beliefs align more closely with the broad, global audience and ethos of Formula 1 racing. Sign this petition and let’s bring the focus back to the sport we love.
