Yale New Haven Hospital employees deserve safe and secure parking. YNHH takes approximately $60 a month out of our paychecks for parking. Per the New Haven Police Dept., at least 6 times a week hospital employees have had windows broken, cars stolen, tires and rims stolen, and the hospital does nothing about it. The hospital always responds that the lots are owned by the city. Although this is true, we pay the hospital directly for parking fees. The hospital leaders have refused to work with the city on this issue, they refuse to invest money in gates  with badge swipe access in the lots, refuse to patrol parking lots due to being short staffed. The hospital needs to do better for its employees. 

It’s time for Yale New Haven Hospital to take responsibility and ensure that their staff has secure parking areas. We need better lighting, gates with badge access, surveillance cameras, and regular security patrols to protect our vehicles from theft and vandalism.
