Ottawa Community Housing (OCH) residents, many with children and from diverse backgrounds, are living under terrible and dangerous conditions that have persisted for over 8 years. Our community, intended as a safe haven for families, is now overrun by drug usage, gang activities, and crime. Recent events include incidents of theft and even a fire that displaced families, adding further trauma to an already strained community. Instead of a safe space, our community feels more like a battleground, where every resident is constantly under stress, fearing for their safety, and that of their children.

Unfortunately, calls for improvement or intervention by OCH and the police have gone unheeded. It's high time we stood up for the rights and safety of our community. This lack of action by those who are supposed to protect us is unacceptable. Families that moved into these residencies did so to feel safer, not to be further subjected to danger.

It's noteworthy that the majority of the people involved in these disturbing activities do not even have children living in the community. It's beyond time that our family-oriented community is returned back to a peaceful, safe environment conducive for raising children, away from the influence of drugs, crime, and gang culture.

This petition calls on the Ottawa Police and OCH, imploring them to take immediate action to restore safety in our homes and lives. We are not merely demanding change -- we need it.
