I am a community advocate, and I believe every person deserves to live in safe, healthy, and dignified housing. I am speaking on behalf of residents who have shared concerns about conditions at Maria’s Apartments and who may feel intimidated or afraid to speak publicly.

Over time, multiple current and former tenants have publicly reported serious concerns about living conditions at the property. These reports include pest infestations, mold, septic-related issues, unreliable heating, and other maintenance problems that residents say have affected their health, safety, and quality of life. Many tenants have also shared photographs and firsthand accounts documenting these reported conditions.

In addition to concerns about the property itself, several current and former tenants have publicly alleged experiencing harassment, threats, and, in some cases, physical altercations involving the property’s owners or management. These are serious allegations that deserve to be thoroughly investigated by the appropriate authorities.

Many residents of Maria’s Apartments are low-income individuals and families who rely on local and state housing protections to ensure basic health and safety standards are met. Residents have reported making complaints to the appropriate agencies, yet many believe the underlying concerns remain unresolved.

This petition does not seek to determine anyone’s guilt. Instead, it calls upon the appropriate city officials, housing authorities, health departments, and law enforcement agencies, where applicable, to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the concerns raised by current and former tenants. If violations of housing codes or other laws are found, we ask that appropriate action be taken to protect residents and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.

We also urge local officials to improve communication with tenants so that complaints are addressed promptly, transparently, and without fear of retaliation.

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. We ask community members to stand with the residents of Maria’s Apartments by supporting this petition and encouraging a fair, independent review of the reported conditions.
