Demand Review of Judge Rickett's Animal Cruelty Sentencing Decision and Ricketts Resignati

The Issue

This petition isn't just personal to me, but also crucial for the justice system in Wayne County and the broader public. This is a plea for addressing a horrifying incident where Judge Michael W Rickett gave an appallingly lenient sentence to a man who was responsible for murdering over 17 cats using a homemade gas chamber. Despite the clear guidelines of the Ohio Revised codes, the offender faced a pitiful sentence of just 6 months probation, some fines, and a requirement to write an apology letter.

Under the Ohio Revised codes (Section 959.13 & 959.131)—the laws of our community—such crimes are considered felony, and should be dealt with all the seriousness they deserve. But in the face of this cruel act, Judge Rickett chose not to uphold the law, shaking our trust in the legal system and setting a dangerous precedent for animal cruelty.

We understand and respect the independence of the judiciary, but when a judge fails to uphold the laws by delivering suitable punishment for heinous crimes, it calls for direct action. Demand Judge Michael W Rickett's immediate and indefinite resignation from the Wayne County Courts. Let's restore faith in our justice system, and ensure no such horrifying acts go unpunished. Please, sign this petition, and let your voice be heard
