My name is anonymous, and I am a victim of a flawed justice system. I spent 37 grueling years inside the NJ Department of Corrections, innocent, including 5 years on NJ’s death row. The New Jersey Conviction Review Unit (CRU) heard my case in September 2019 but chose to take no action at this time. Their response was a one-page letter that got it all wrong.

The CRU's Director, Carolyn Murray, is a former prosecutor/judge who has shown bias and conflict in her role. Her leadership has resulted in only two exonerations over the unit's four-year existence - an alarming statistic that raises serious questions about the efficacy and fairness of this body.

I am not alone in my experience; many others have been similarly brushed aside by the CRU under Murray's leadership. We are calling on NJ Attorney General Matt Platkin and NJ Governor Murphy to review those reviewing us - to ensure justice is served for all.
