Demand Responsible Energy & Cooling Standards for AI Infrastructure

Demand Responsible Energy & Cooling Standards for AI Infrastructure
The Issue
Artificial intelligence is rapidly expanding across industries and everyday life. Instead of condemning individuals for using AI tools, responsibility should rest with the companies building and operating the massive data centers that power them.
AI requires significant electricity and cooling. Innovative solutions already exist, including ocean-based data centers, liquid immersion cooling, renewable-powered facilities, and building in colder climates to reduce energy demand.
We call on AI developers, cloud providers, and lawmakers to:
• Invest in advanced, low-impact cooling technologies
• Prioritize renewable energy for AI data centers
• Publicly report energy consumption and environmental impact
• Develop clear sustainability standards for future AI infrastructure
Technological progress should not come at the expense of responsible energy use. We support innovation and we expect it to be built sustainably.
