I am a member of the community directly affected by the superintendent's decision in West Ada county. Recently, our superintendent demanded a teacher remove an inclusive poster stating, "everyone's welcome here." Not only did this come as a shock, it also conveyed a less than inclusive stance from our education leaders. Inclusion promotes respect and understanding, fostering environments where each and every student can thrive. According to the American Psychological Association, schools with strong inclusive policies have been linked to positive student outcomes, including lowered stress levels and increased comfort among students (APA,2015). In the spirit of fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for the welfare of all students in West Ada county, we call upon our superintendent to reconsider this decision. We want our teachers to be able to display signs of inclusivity openly without fear of reprimand.
