Demand Respectful Treatment for All from DCA in Newark

The Issue

As someone with a mental disorder who identifies as a minority, I am personally disturbed and outraged by the consistent and rampant discrimination I am seeing by the DCA and Housing Community Affairs in Newark. Our community, particularly those facing housing issues, receiving section 8, and requiring rental assistance, is being treated with unwarranted disrespect and downright disregard. This lack of respect is not only confined to the procedural matters, but sadly extends to rudeness, dishonesty about resources and funding help, and an appalling bias against individuals with mental illnesses and diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds.

We are all humans deserving of dignity, fairness, and respect, and this kind of behavior is unacceptable. Not only are these actions morally repugnant, but they also violate our rights protected under the Fair Housing Act that prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability. Needless to say, the discriminatory behaviors we are experiencing infringe on these rights.

Our collective voice can lead to a change. We must actively demand respect, empathy, and integrity from the DCA and Housing Community Affairs in Newark. We need your support to call for a thorough and impartial investigation into the allegations of discrimination, and to enforce necessary changes within the system.

This is effecting not only me and my family, but I have observed with my own eyes in this office; discrimination against the elderly, handicapped, disabled, and especially minorities.

Join me in signing this petition. Let's ensure our voices are heard, and the DCA of Newark is held accountable for their actions. Let's act together, demand justice, and make a real change in our community. Sign this petition today.
