The issue

In a time when respect and inclusivity are heralded as fundamental values in our society, it is disheartening to witness instances where these principles are disregarded. Burgertory, a business operating in Australia, has chosen to use Christian sacred elements such as angel names, prophets' names, and references to the seven deadly sins on its menu. https://www.burgertory.com.au/menu/

This is a blatant trivialization of profound aspects of the Christian faith, which holds deep significance for over 11 million Australian Christians.

As followers of Christianity, and allies who believe in the importance of honoring all faiths, we cannot allow the sacred to be mocked under the guise of creativity or humor. This is not about limiting artistic expression—it is about recognizing the deep emotional and spiritual connections people have with their beliefs. A menu should never be at the expense of someone else's sacred values.

We urge Burgertory's owner, Hash Tayeh, to publicly acknowledge the offense caused to Australia's Christian community and extend a sincere apology. Additionally, we encourage Burgertory to reconsider and revise its menu in a way that respects all faiths and their symbols.

Respect for religion is not a demand for special treatment—it is a foundational aspect of a harmonious and inclusive society. Join us in standing up for mutual respect and understanding. Sign this petition to show that the trivialization of any religion’s sacred elements is unacceptable.

Your Voice Matters. Together, we can make a difference.
