Demand resignation of Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch

The Issue

I am deeply disheartened by the actions and decisions of Mayor Thomas P. Koch over the past year, and I believe his leadership no longer aligns with the values and diversity of our beloved city, Quincy.

Mayor Koch's proposal to raise his own salary to an astonishing $285,000 is a blatant disregard for the economic reality many residents face. While families strive to make ends meet, the idea of increasing his salary to such an outrageous sum feels unfair and out of touch with the constituents he serves.

His decision to erect statues of Saints Michael and Florian outside secular public safety facilities is yet another instance where he has shown a lack of sensitivity towards the religious diversity of the community. This move alienates non-Catholic residents and fails to respect the secular nature of our public spaces.

Moreover, his horrific remarks about the Catholic Church's child sex and pedophilia scandal have further isolated members of our LGBTQ community, likening them to previously defrocked priests, in a city that should pride itself on inclusivity and acceptance for all.

These actions underscore a pattern of decisions and behaviors from Mayor Koch that do not reflect the diverse and inclusive values of Quincy. Our city needs a leader who listens, respects, and represents all of its citizens, not just a select few.

I urge the residents of Quincy and those who stand for justice, equality, and respect to join me in calling for the resignation of Mayor Thomas P. Koch. It is time for new leadership that will better represent and serve our entire community. Please sign this petition to insist that Mayor Koch steps down from his position.
