Demand Resignation of La Quinta Mayor Linda Evans for Alleged Conflicts of Interest

Demand Resignation of La Quinta Mayor Linda Evans for Alleged Conflicts of Interest
The Issue
As citizens of La Quinta, CA, we have genuine concerns regarding Mayor Linda Evans and her apparent personal investment with The Robert Green Company. Certain documents that became public the last few months suggests she used her influence by generous donations to Robert Green Company over 10 years ago to influence the the city council to grant the company in question the funding needed for the SilverRock/Talus development. In addition to that, it was suggested by an article in the Desert Sun dated February 9, 2017 that a separate donation of an undisclosed amount was made to Linda Evans victory party by Robert Green company to put towards the $6,686.40 bill for her re-election celebration which was held at a SilverRock location. (will show the screenshots in updates)
SilverRock has sparked uproar within our community. This has caused many to question her commitment to our best interest, as it appears her priority lies elsewhere.
The heart of our concern bears on two poignant point: One being personal gain should not supersede public duty. Mayor Evans, from what I've personally seen and from numerous accounts of others, appears to be more focused on private interests and money than on serving the people of La Quinta. As Mayor of La Quinta, she is to always have the citizens of La Quinta in her best interest. The citizens demand transparency to know how and why this Silverrock/Talus development became such a huge disaster and why the Mayor didn't step in and do something before it was too late. $300,000,000 is a lot of money and to have lost that much money on her watch is absolutely an inability to be accountable for her actions and do her job. Not only should she resign, but I believe she should be investigated for corruption on her actions over the last 10 years due to her inability to protect the interest of the citizens of La Quinta.
Our Second concern involves a possible pattern with the Mayors re-election donations that seems to favor in a very positive way, any developers who are trying to have the La Quinta City Council approve development of a certain area for permits and building. A newer development by the name of Travertine recently was approved to start the groundwork to make a large Development off of 62nd avenue which involves the traffic of up to 1000 or more vehicles being allowed to drive up onto the berm that overlooks the Trilogy development. Massive outrage from the citizens of La Quinta (especially those in living in Trilogy) was made public and a website was even started to give the major concerns of the project, yet the development was still approved by La Quinta City Council. The buying and selling of the Travertine land was not a city of La Quinta property. The land was sold by a private company and bought by a private company. Yet, according to Mayor Evans donation forms from 2022, she received a large sum of money from not only the developer who bought Travertine but also his wife as well. The developer of Travertine is a man named Mark Rogers. On November 7th and 8th, 2022 Mark Rogers donated $2500 to Linda Evans re-election campaign as well as his wife, Teri Rogers sent an even bigger donation of $5000 to the same re-election campaign. Our city requires leadership that prioritizes community well-being over personal advantage. By signing this petition, we urge Mayor Linda Evans to resign for the sake of rectifying the office's reputation and fully serve the people of La Quinta. La Quinta deserves a mayor driven by the desire to foster growth and progress for its residents, not one influenced by personal financial gains. Please, sign this petition now and let's strive for a better La Quinta.
