However, the initiative faced unexpected backlash when Michael Guessford, a member of the Washington County Public Schools Board of Education, commented on the related Facebook post with the phrase, "We need to protest."

As a leader and influencer within our education system, Mr. Guessford's stance is deeply concerning and casts a shadow over the principles of inclusion and respect that we strive to instill in our schools.
