Demand Removal of Inhumane Bird Netting in NYC

The Issue

At 144 West 70th Street in New York City, bird deterrent nets, installed by Garfield Development, are causing a surge in inhumane suffering and death of pigeons. These improperly placed nets trap innocent pigeons, leading them to die slow and torturous deaths, an unacceptable display of cruelty that tarnishes our city.

Efforts to address this grave issue through local authorities such as the NYC Buildings Department, 311, FDNY, NYPD Animal Abuse Unit, have regrettably yielded no results. Yet. UPDATE: we’ve gained the attention of PETA- see and share article here:

Despite repeated contact with Garfield Development, no actions have been taken to amend this deadly setup.

This is not just a matter of building management; it is about preventing painful and needless animal suffering. In a city known for taking pride in its humane treatment of ALL, we cannot stand by while these birds suffer. Proper installation of bird deterrents should aim to prevent issues with minimal harm, yet this setup does exactly the opposite.

By signing this petition, we urge Garfield Development to act swiftly and responsibly by removing or correcting the improperly installed netting. Your voice can bring about crucial change and prevent further inhumane threats to New York City's pigeon population. Stand with us to protect these birds and maintain some semblance of ethical integrity.
