The Issue

Maria Francisca Villanueva Caballero is a loving mother, friend, and valued member of her community who deserves to be home with her family rather than confined in an ICE detention facility. My mom has always stood by her family and community, contributing positively and upholding strong values.  She cares for our youngest school age sibling and supports the rest of us pursuing higher education.

On October 8th, she was attending a mandatory immigration interview for adjustment of her legal status with her lawyer, following all legal protocols diligently, when she was forcefully taken by ICE agents in California. This is a blatant abuse of power by these agents, taking advantage of her vulnerable situation and calls attention to the unfair and arbitrary practices employed by ICE.

Her detainment does nothing to enhance national security or enforce immigration laws; instead, it tears families apart and unjustly penalizes those attempting to do right by the system. Her sudden detainment by ICE has not only disrupted our family life but has also reinforced the injustice towards and fear within our community.

We demand her immediate release so she can return home to her family where she belongs. No one, especially a loving mother and integral community member, should be subject to such unjust treatment.

Please sign this petition to urge ICE to release Mrs. Villanueva Caballero. Your support can help reunite a family and push back against unfair detention practices.
