The Australian Football League (AFL) has continually failed its fans by implementing an opening round setup that is far from satisfactory and creating fixture imbalances. The Australian public deserve better. Instead of enjoying a sense of fairness and balance, fans are becoming increasingly frustrated with unreasonable decisions that only favour a few. This petition aims to counter this and ensure that all teams, regardless of their standing and their location, are treated fairly. We propose boycotting Opening round to achieve this by hitting them where it hurts most: their wallets. We envisage an Opening Round in 2025 and into 2026 where stands could potentially be half-empty, voicing a loud and clear message for change. We need you to support this by not purchasing tickets starting from the March 6 game, Brisbane vs. Geelong, followed by Sydney vs. Hawthorn, and Gold Coast vs. Essendon.
