The Issue

As a deeply concerned parent and active community member, I am launching this petition due to the hastily-made decision to close Salem Elementary School. This decision was made without providing a comprehensive plan for the accommodation of our precious children, particularly those who require specialized care in smaller groups and one-on-one attention.

Salem Elementary has been an exceptional learning environment for my daughter and many other students. The idea of moving the children to make-shift "portable" classrooms worries not just me, but many parents and educators in our community - for the safety, comfort, and quality of education our children may receive. It is important to question how formidable these temporary setups could be?

Moreover, the initially claimed savings from the school closure are questionable. The cost for moving school furniture, altering bus routes, renting portable classrooms, and all the risks associated with the same - are these considerations truly factored into the decision- making process?

In light of these concerns, we urge the decision-makers to reconsider this closure and provide a transparent, comprehensive plan that ensures the welfare of our children and the school staff. This campaign is not just about keeping a school open, it’s about preserving a nurturing environment for our children and upholding the values of our community.

Please, sign this petition to stand in solidarity with us and demand a responsible action plan from our decision-makers.
