A dog is recovering from a broken tooth, facial trauma, and severe neglect after someone threw him over an 8-foot fence into an Anaheim veterinary clinic parking lot in the middle of the night. Tyler Nashae Thompson has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals — but she started out facing a felony charge for the same act. As part of a plea deal, that felony was dismissed, along with a separate charge for destroying evidence. Her punishment: 80 hours of community service and a 60-day jail sentence that will never be served, so long as she completes two years of probation.

The clinic's director, Dr. Ash Hakhamian, described what he found: a malnourished, flea-infested poodle who "face-planted" after being hurled over the fence, according to [Dr. Ash Hakhamian, ABC7]. He said the dog's injuries went "far beyond his physical trauma."
