I am a resident of Wadala, Mumbai, and along with my neighbors in Chembur and surrounding areas, we have been suffering from health issues due to the constant inhaling of ammonia emitted by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF). The emissions have started to irritate our skin, mouth, throat, lungs causing severe headaches. The smell is at its peak during night hours which leads to difficulty in sleeping.

For over 20 years now, RCF has been emitting ammonia and harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere without treating it. This not only poses a significant threat to our health but also hampers India's net zero target goal. Having such chemical industries around densely populated regions is potent.

We call upon the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) to hold RCF accountable for these emissions and demand them to take lasting measures against this ongoing issue. We need MPCB's intervention on priority basis for finding a permanent solution considering the health issues arising due to long term exposure of such harmful gases.

The time has come for us as citizens of this great nation not just merely survive but thrive in an environment that respects our right to clean air. Let's ensure that future generations inherit an environment they can proudly call home.
