Dear lovely supporters,

Here is one of the chicks from last year, at the now obstructed nest site. Will we ever see any chicks at this nest site again? You can help us.

We need you to do one more action for us!

Please help us by emailing Justin at Raven Housing Trust. Here's a prepared email you can use or amend to add your own words if you like:

Subject line: Urgent action needed to protect a swift nest.

Dear Justin,

I/we am writing to raise an urgent concern regarding a recently fitted flue pipe in the Pound Road swift colony, that is currently blocking a long established swift nest.

Swifts are a protected and rapidly declining species, and the loss of nesting sites is one of the major factors contributing to their decline. The installation of this new flue pipe has obstructed access to a nest that has been used successfully for many years.

We urge Raven Housing Trust to take immediate action by repositioning the obstructing flue pipe back to its original vertical position. This simple adjustment would help preserve an important nesting site while also demonstrating Raven Housing Trust’s continued commitment to wildlife conservation and ecological responsibility.

Please support this to rectify the situation for the benefit of the common swift and our shared environment. By acting now, we can help protect the future of this much-loved species.

Contact Bansteadswifts@gmail.com for details on this issue.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Kind regards,
