Demand Protection for Palestinian Journalists in Gaza and West Bank

Demand Protection for Palestinian Journalists in Gaza and West Bank
The Issue
Journalists have historically served as the eyes and ears of the world, unwavering in their pursuit of truth. Today, in places like Gaza and the West Bank, these brave individuals are under threat. The targeting of journalists, medical, and aid personnel violates international law, yet the current Israeli government and its Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are engaging in such practices. This endangers the lives of Palestinian journalists and imperils the flow of vital information.
These infractions of international law by the State of Israel against Palestinian journalists are not isolated incidents, but rather an ongoing issue. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) reported that over 18 journalists in the West Bank and Gaza Strip were killed between 1992 and 2021, while 168 journalists in Gaza have lost their lives since 2023. Using this undeniable proof, we demand the international community to intensify pressure on the Israeli government, Prime Minister Netanyahu, and the Knesset to immediately cease all hostilities against Palestinian journalists.
We insist on the enforcement of international laws that protect non-combatants in conflict zones, including journalists - laws that are currently being undermined. A world without free journalism is a world without truth. We call on responsible citizens of the world to stand up for the rights of Palestinian journalists to perform their jobs safely, without threat or intimidation.
The State of Israel must be held accountable for these actions. We humbly request responsible global citizens to sign this petition, to let the world know that we stand with the journalists of Gaza and West Bank, and that we demand their safety and protection from aggression.
