Demand Prosecutor Dan Patterson Step Down Unless He Prosecutes Child Predators as Other Counties Do

Demand Prosecutor Dan Patterson Step Down Unless He Prosecutes Child Predators as Other Counties Do
The Issue
Our community tread in fear and disappointment. We share stories of Dan Patterson, our prosecuting attorney, who refuses to act until "someone is actually hurt". This ludicrous approach permits child predators to roam free until their heinous intentions translate into action. We refuse to accept this status quo and demand immediate change. In contrast, various other counties collaborate with agencies such as Operation Soap diligently to get pedophiles and sex offenders off the street and internet. We find it unacceptable and distressing that Patterson is reluctant to follow suit.
According to the Department of Justice, "Childhood victimization is a strong risk factor for subsequent violence" [U.S. Department of Justice]. Inaction today facilitates harm tomorrow. This is not a hypothetical situation - in fact, more than 60,000 cases of child sexual abuse are reported annually across the country [U.S. Department of Health & Human Services]. Our concern is grounded in stark numbers and harsh realities.
We implore all members of our community to raise your voice against this negligence. Stand up for the protection of our children. Demand Dan Patterson step down unless he prioritizes prosecuting child predators vigorously and pre-emptively. Please sign this petition. Protect our children—it is our moral obligation.
