Every day, our community bears witness to an increasingly dangerous situation. Our traffic light remains broken, leading to harmful repercussions. The hazard of the intersection near Fort Riley becomes more apparent each day, as a multitude of vehicles freights on and off the base. Especially during peak hours in the mornings and in the late afternoons, the junction gets backed up rapidly. Countless drivers have resorted to violent measures out of exasperation, breeding several road rage incidents. Every day we observe many idle vehicles, waiting for green lights while lanes with activated green lights have no vehicle traffic, not one car. This situation is untenable. Reliable traffic lights can significantly curtail the incidence of road rage by up to 30 percent - a statistic established by the Automobile Association of America. Despite this, our local authorities have shown an alarming apathy towards repairing the street light, compromising our community's safety. Inaction and negligence are no longer options that we, as concerned citizens, can stand for.

Through this petition, we appeal to the relevant decision-makers to prioritize the immediate repair of our traffic light at US77 and Old Hwy 77 in Geary County KS.
