Demand President Mnangagwa's Resignation to End State Capture

Demand President Mnangagwa's Resignation to End State Capture
The Issue
Petitioning: Vice President of Zimbabwe, General (Rtd.) Dr. Constantino G.D.N. Chiwenga, and the Command Element of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.
The Preamble: A Promise Betrayed
In November 2017, you, the Command Element of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, intervened in the life of our nation. You cited the need to remove a leader who had been captured by a criminal cabal and to restore the legacy of our liberation struggle. The people of Zimbabwe, desperate for a new dawn, poured onto the streets in their millions to support your action. We placed our trust in you and in the subsequent leadership of President Emmerson D. Mnangagwa, believing in the promise of a "New Dispensation."
Today, that promise lies in ruins. The hope of 2017 has been betrayed. Our nation is not recovering; it is being systematically dismantled by a new, more rapacious cabal informally referred to as ZVIGANANDA which has captured the presidency itself and is orchestrating the wholesale looting of our national inheritance.
We, the undersigned citizens of Zimbabwe, do not address you as rebels, but as patriots. We address you as the midwives of the current political order, who therefore hold a unique historical and moral responsibility to correct its catastrophic course.
The National Indictment: A Cancer of Corruption
The suffering of our people is not an accident of fate or a consequence of sanctions; it is the direct and calculated outcome of a captured state, where the cancer of corruption, led by Zvigananda, has metastasized into every part of our national life.
Systemic State-Sponsored Looting: The primary disease is the rampant, unchecked looting of our national resources. Our mineral wealth; gold, diamonds, and lithium; is being plundered by a small, parasitic elite with links to the highest office, enriching a few while the nation is crippled.
Unattainable Hardships: This grand theft has created unattainable hardships for the masses. It has fuelled hyperinflation and a cost of living that has pushed basic survival; food, rent, school fees, transport; beyond the reach of ordinary families, turning daily life into a desperate struggle.
A Nation of Ungainful Employment: The formal economy has collapsed under the weight of this plunder, creating mass unemployment. Our university graduates have no future, and millions are forced into the indignity of "ungainful employment"; a nation of vendors and hustlers, working tirelessly yet earning far below the poverty datum line.
The Betrayal of Our Public Servants: The ultimate indictment of this regime is its treatment of its own employees. Our teachers, nurses, police officers, and soldiers have seen their salaries eroded to the point of destitution. The very people who uphold the fabric of our state have been turned into paupers.
An Infrastructure of Theft: Even the much-touted infrastructure developments and cosmetic efforts in healthcare are a deception. These projects, rather than serving the people, have become new avenues for plunder, awarded through opaque contracts to the same Zvigananda-linked companies, burdening our nation with odious debt for generations to come.
Our Demands for a National Reset
A President's first and most sacred duty is the welfare of the nation. When a President presides over such systemic corruption, he has fundamentally violated his oath. Therefore, we, the undersigned citizens of Zimbabwe, commission you to oversee a national reset based on the following urgent demands:
- The Resignation of the President: We demand the immediate and constitutional resignation of President Emmerson D. Mnangagwa. His party is free to manage his replacement according to its own procedures and the laws of Zimbabwe, but his tenure, defined by state capture, must end.
An Ironclad Guarantee on Constitutional Term Limits: We are deeply concerned by the talk of extending the President's term. We demand that you, as a guarantor of the 2017 transition, provide an unequivocal and public guarantee to the nation that the Constitution of Zimbabwe will not be tampered with to allow President Mnangagwa any more room in office beyond his current, final term.
A Commitment to Free and Fair Elections: We demand a clear, irreversible path towards a constitutional, free, and fair election, where all opposition voices are not intimidated, and where the will of the people is sovereign.
A New National Consensus: We demand a genuine national dialogue to craft a new social contract based on integrity, inclusivity, and respect for all voices: political parties, civil society, labour, business, religious communities, traditional leaders, youth, women, academia, professionals, the diaspora, and liberation movements.
A Return to Meritocracy and the Rule of Law: We demand an end to the cronyism that has placed clueless and corrupt individuals in high office. Government must be run on meritocracy. Furthermore, we demand that all corrupt actors, particularly the architects of state capture, be arrested and face the full consequences of their actions as per the laws of our Republic.
Our Pledge to Act
Our goal is to gather one million signatures from the citizens of Zimbabwe, both at home and in the diaspora. Once this historic threshold is reached, we pledge to march peacefully to your offices to deliver this petition in person.
This is not a call for chaos, but a call for order. It is a call to restore the dignity of our nation, to honour the sacrifice of our liberation heroes, and to give our children a future. We ask you to stand with the people once more, to finish the job you started, and to help us reclaim our country from the clutches of corruption.
