I am a lifelong resident of Pico Rivera, a city that has prospered, in part, due to overdevelopment and over-policing. Our local government's history is marred by scandals, corruption, and incompetence that have been either ignored or conveniently forgotten. Luckily, we remember.

We are calling on the City of Pico Rivera to pass a resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Palestine. This is not just about international politics or “picking a side”—it's about human rights and siding with the child of our neighbors against bombs and bullets every single time.

Furthermore, our city must commit to divesting all funds from Israel—an apartheid “state” illegally occupying Palestinian Territories according to international law (source: International Court of Justice ruling). This action will send a clear message that we do not condone any form of oppression or violation of human rights. 

Lastly, we urge the City Council to formally recognize and apologize for our past relationship with weapons manufacturer Northrup Grumman—a company whose products that our residents designed and made by hand, led to civilian deaths in Afghanistan and Ukraine (source: Amnesty International reports). It's time we acknowledge this dark chapter in our history and commit to a better world as a result; not shy away from change over the possibility of losing AIPAC money.
