The Issue

As an animal lover, I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the conditions I've witnessed in Petco stores. It breaks my heart to see creatures of all types being neglected for corporate profit. Fish are left molding in water, guinea pigs fall sick - this is not a sight any animal lover should have to witness.

The sale of live animals at pet stores has long been a contentious issue. According to the Humane Society of the United States, many animals sold in pet stores come from mass-breeding facilities where they are denied socialization, exercise, and veterinary care (HSUS). In these conditions, disease often runs rampant and many animals arrive at pet stores already sick or injured.

In Albany OR alone, there are numerous reports of customers purchasing pets from Petco only for them to fall ill or even die shortly thereafter due to poor health conditions they were kept in prior. This is not just about consumer rights; it's about basic animal welfare.

We believe that pets should be adopted from responsible breeders or shelters rather than purchased from retailers who prioritize profit over animal welfare. We urge Petco to stop selling live animals and instead support local adoption programs that provide homes for needy animals without contributing to the cycle of neglect and abuse inherent in mass breeding operations.

Join us as we call on Petco to put an end to this cruel practice. Sign our petition today!
