Demand Persimmon to Permanently Repair White Farm Footpath and Protect Our Right of Way!
The Issue
As your Local Councillors, (Belinda Love-Luck Edwards and Emma Goodjohn) we are launching this petition on behalf of White Farm Estate residents and the wider Barry community.
We demand Persimmon fulfils its duty of care and health and safety obligations to correct the defects and wide-ranging issues linked to the path around the perimeter of White Farm estate.
Large, deep, expanding cracks are tearing through the footpath, creating an immediate danger. The bank beneath the path is actively failing and sliding away. While emergency safety fencing is in place, restricting the path is not a long-term solution.
Houses front straight onto the footpath and these home owners dread that their homes may also fall away along with the embankment. This structural collapse is effecting the ability for them to sell their houses.
We share the community’s fear that if these dangerous cracks are ignored, Persimmon will permanently close this vital public right of way instead of fixing it. Simply laying down tarmac patches over moving earth is unacceptable. Without proper structural sustainable long-term solution, this essential community link will inevitably collapse completely, and possibly effecting the structure of peoples homes.

⚠️ The Key Issues
- Severe Physical Danger: Large, deep structural cracks are actively opening up, creating major trip hazards and signalling imminent ground failure.
- Active Ground Collapse: The bank beneath the path is visibly sinking and breaking away, proving that the underlying land is highly unstable.
- Threat to Public Access: We fear a lack of meaningful action will result in a permanent, official shutdown of this heavily used right of way.

🛑 Our Last Resort:
If Persimmon Homes continues to delay and standard channels fail, we are prepared to push for formal escalation alongside our community.

📢 What We Are Demanding
We demand that Persimmon Homes take the urgent following actions:
1. Urgently Undertake A Long Term Engineering Solution To A Quality Adoptable By The Council: Persimmon Homes must deliver a long term solution the to secure the failing bank, close the cracks, and safely restore the path.
2. Guaranteed Public Access: Guarantee that this public right of way remains open.
3. Public Timeline: Establish a clear, transparent timeline for these remedial works.
