I am a concerned parent of a soon-to-be middle schooler in Boston, KY. Like many other parents, teachers, and community members in Boston, New Haven, and Cox’s Creek, I am deeply worried about the future of our children's education at OKH. Despite having the capacity to accommodate 650 students, we believe that cramming our children into this space would not be the most advantageous and is not in their best interest.

Our concerns stem from the fact that decisions impacting our children's education are being made by board members who do not have any personal stake in our schools - they do not have children attending these institutions. This lack of representation and empathy is alarming and unacceptable.

In the United States, public schools are intended to be governed by elected officials who represent their communities (source: National School Boards Association). However, here in Nelson County, KY we find ourselves excluded from these pivotal discussions and decisions regarding our own children's futures.

We demand immediate change. We insist on having parental representation on the school board to ensure that all future decisions prioritize student welfare and quality education over mere logistics or convenience. Our voices must be heard for the sake of our children’s educational journey.
