Demand Paid Leave for All: Make Paid Family and Medical Leave the Law Now
The Issue
Every day, people in America go back to work just days after welcoming a new child, because we need to make the rent.
Every day, we give up hours, promotions, or leave the workforce entirely because we need to care for a parent with cancer or dementia.
Every day, we lose our jobs or go bankrupt after an illness or injury.
Every day, we miss check ups, mammograms, treatments, because we don’t have paid time off to care for ourselves or our loved ones.
Every day, millions of us are forced to do the impossible—we’re forced to choose between our family and a paycheck, our health and our work.
The United States is one of the only countries in the world without any national form of paid leave, and we all pay the price. Only 1 in 4 of us have paid family leave from our jobs, and families lose $34 billion every year as a result. Businesses lose talented workers; they lose in productivity, performance, and profit. Workers lose in dollars, health, and peace of mind. Maternal and infant health and mortality suffer. Disease recovery and survival rates suffer. Our mental health suffers. And too many of us can’t be present for the most important moments of our lives.
And now nearly half a million women have dropped from the workforce. Some politicians are calling the birthrate a crisis. Baby boomers are aging and an emergency is in the making. We’re facing record burnout and loneliness.
But if as a country we invested in paid leave and policies that kept more women and caregivers in the workforce, it would yield millions of jobs, billions in wages, and hundreds of billions in GDP. It would lead to a happier, healthier country.
Join us in urging Congress, the White House, and leaders everywhere to act on real family values: we ask that they prioritize working families and fight for paid family and medical leave for all. We all deserve the security and dignity of paid time to care, to rest and recover.

We are demanding support for the FAMILY Act sponsored by Senator Gillibrand and Rep. Rosa DeLauro. Call your senators and demand that they support the FAMILY Act, as well as these important players in Congress and the White House: Speaker Johnson, Minority Leader Jeffries, Leader Thune, Minority Leader Schumer, and President Trump.
