Demand Obligation from Odd Nation Cartoons to Make 'Disventure Camp' Safe for Children
The Issue
As mothers of children aged 3-10, we often rely on accessible technology, like iPads, to keep our youngsters entertained while we juggle our daily responsibilities. One show our kids stumbled upon is 'Disventure Camp' from a YouTube channel called Odd Nation Cartoons. What we thought was a harmless show for children, unfortunately, turned out to contain tons of inappropriate content. Our discovery began when our children started using swear words which they claim they learned from in the cartoon, this sort of language is inappropriate for impressionable young minds.
Episodes frequently contain references to homosexuality, vulgar humor, and use of swear words. These topics are not suitable for early learning stages between age 3-10. Children at this age are like sponges, absorbing everything around them, shaping their views for the future. The American Academy of Pediatrics states that the shows children watch can significantly influence their behavior and development (Source: AAP).
We, therefore, request Odd Nation Cartoon to either modify the content of 'Disventure Camp' to be appropriate for young children in all future episodes or to to stop uploading all together. We believe it is the media producers' responsibility to deliver age-appropriate content for their respective audience age groups. We ask that Odd Nation Cartoons make sure that their episodes follow a TV Y7 rating and eliminate any mention of homosexuality, vulgar humor, and swear words from all future episodes & preferably with the episodes that are already uploaded on their Youtube Channel that risk teaching kids topics that should not be talked about at their age.
We urge you to support us in this stand for our children's mental and moral well-being. By signing this petition, you will be casting a vote for safer, healthier television content for our children. Please sign this petition today.
