The families of NYC depend on early childhood providers for the education and care of their children.  The early childhood providers, 3-K and Pre-K, depend on prompt payment from the NYC DOE to:

• provide the materials for the children
• provide food for the children
• pay their staff
• pay the rent
• keep the lights on

Yet many, many providers have not been paid in months (some since 2022).  They are owed, thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, collectively millions of dollar$.  The City Council Committee on Education held 2 special hearings to inquire about late/non-payment.  The DOE claim this isn’t of their doing and hold press conferences pretending that they have taken care of the issue.  Yet many, many providers STILL HAVEN’T BEEN PAID.  

The DOE is spending money on hiring new staff, buying and mandating new curriculum, yet many, many providers STILL HAVEN’T BEEN PAID.

We demand the immediate payment of all outstanding invoices and debts of the DOE to the 3K/Pre-K providers.  

We demand that the Comptroller conduct a full and thorough audit of the NYCDOE.
