The issue

Aged only 7, Decklan Hayward tragically died after choking on a sausage he was given at a school in Orange, NSW in July last year. First aid by dedicated teachers failed, emergency assistance failed and the NSW Education Department and Minister Prue Car MP have decided not to act to prevent this from happening in the future by considering the LifeVac device. This unevidenced and reckless decision places school students (especially in rural areas) at risk of death or permanent brain injury from severe choking. This is just not acceptable to parents, the community, or the voters and residents of NSW.
