Demand Norfolk State University to Dismiss Michael Vick from His Position

Demand Norfolk State University to Dismiss Michael Vick from His Position
The Issue
Most of us own a pet or know someone who has one. Now, imagine that gentle creature subjected to the most horrendous treatment imaginable - fighting fellow animals for sport, being brutalized, and possibly being killed for amusement. Michael Vick is infamously known for orchestrating such a dogfighting ring. The atrocities carried out under his hand have horrified countless animal lovers and ethical humans alike.
Yet, despite his well-known past, Norfolk State University has seen fit to employ this individual, sending a message that undermines the very principles of compassion, justice, and dignity for all beings. This is not a matter of past misdemeanors but a glaring disregard for ethical accountability. Given that universities are often revered as institutions shaping young minds, what message does Norfolk State portray by hiring such a person?
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, "Dogfighting is a type of blood sport in which dogs are forced to fight one another for the entertainment and/or profit of spectators." This illegal and immoral act scars animals for life, leading to physical trauma, intense fear, and often death [source: ASPCA]. Despite these realities, Vick was found guilty of running a large-scale dogfighting ring, showcasing complete disregard for animal welfare.
Let us appeal to Norfolk State University's conscience and responsibility as an educational institution: it’s time to fire Michael Vick and set the right example. We, the concerned citizens, respectfully demand the dismissal of Michael Vick from his position at Norfolk State University. His presence undermines the institution's credibility and contradicts the values many of us hold dear.
Take a stand today; do not sit idle. Raise your voices, and let's make a change for the welfare of innocent lives and compassionate values. Demand Norfolk State University to dismiss Michael Vick. Please sign and share this petition.
