Demand NHS Action: Release £650k in Healthcare Funds & Expand GP Access for Witham St Hughs.
Families and residents in Witham St Hughs are currently struggling to get timely appointments for sick children and vulnerable relatives at Bassingham Surgery. The practice staff work extremely hard, but they are operating under unsustainable pressure trying to cover our rapidly growing village.
Freedom of Information data from North Kesteven District Council reveals a staggering situation:
💰 £650,606.97 in developer healthcare money is currently sitting unspent in a council bank account. Developers paid this Section 106 money specifically to fund local health infrastructure for Witham St Hughs, yet NHS Lincolnshire ICB has failed to submit a formal plan to claim and deploy these funds.
🏗️ The population pressure is rising. On top of 468 homes built in recent years, there are 650 approved homes still to be built in our village as of April 2026.
Pushing hundreds more families onto an already overwhelmed GP catchment while leaving over half a million pounds in healthcare funding unclaimed is unsafe and unacceptable for our community.
We are calling on NHS Lincolnshire ICB and local decision-makers to:
- Urgently submit a scheme proposal to North Kesteven District Council to claim the £650,606.97 in Section 106 healthcare funds.
- Publish a clear strategic plan for how these funds will be deployed to expand clinical capacity and GP access for Witham St Hughs residents.
- Evaluate physical healthcare infrastructure (such as a local branch surgery or clinic space) within Witham St Hughs to support ongoing village growth.
Please sign and share this petition to ensure our village gets the healthcare access and infrastructure we desperately need!
