I am a passionate supporter of hockey in New Brunswick, Canada. Over the years, I've witnessed two teams lose due to biased officiating at the NBIAA Hockey Provincials. This is not just disappointing but also undermines the spirit of fair play that should be at the heart of any sport.

The current system allows for games to be held in non-neutral facilities with non-neutral officials. This can lead to an unfair advantage for certain teams and has resulted in heartbreaking losses that could have been avoided under impartial conditions.

According to a study by The Canadian Journal of Behavioural Science, referees are more likely to favor home teams (Jones, 2002). This bias can significantly impact game outcomes and diminishes the integrity of our beloved provincial championship.

We propose that all future NBIAA Hockey Provincials should be held in neutral facilities with neutral officials. By doing so, we ensure a level playing field where skill and teamwork determine success rather than location or referee partiality.
