The college responds with… another FAQ

Thank you all for continued support towards this petition, like the AAUP said, we have had an enormous impact on changes so far and continue to do so. The college has again sent an email in regard to the cuts, and students have been left disappointed again. The link below will direct you to MFTs google drive containing the FAQ and the president’s email.
The FAQ mentions that student concerned about finishing their majors to, reach out to their program for information. Students who are concerned that they do not have a voice should reach out to SGA. This is blatant redirection, the same playbook over and over again. This FAQ states we are only allowed to have a voice if it’s through the channels the college wants it to be in. Another note, the FAQ states “Changes in course availability may occur in some areas, but these will be managed carefully” and “Courses for fall should continue as indicated on the published course schedule. However, as always, classes that do not meet minimum enrollment requirements may shift.”. This reads as the college is preparing for a massive drop in available classes, and this is their way to cover themselves, which is seen in the next part of the FAQ.
The college attempts to justify their cuts by stating that “In December 2025, faculty and staff first were notified that balancing the college’s budget would require both staff and faculty position eliminations.” Is this the only reasoning they have for us? All this excuse does is verify the fact that the SPECIFIC faculty and staff cut on the 19th weren't told until that date. All they knew was that cuts were coming for months. That's not transparency. That's holding people's livelihoods over their heads with no answers.
On behalf of the student body, we are not satisfied. An FAQ is not accountability, nor is it enough to justify what they did. We will continue to push for a better response, one in which actually answers the questions we are asking, not these blanket statements. Continue signing and sharing the petition! As a student body we are preparing to come together to create demands. Look out for future updates where you can provide ideas for them.
