Demand MPs Take a 10% Pay Reduction

The Issue

I, like many others, am painfully aware of the financial struggles ordinary people are facing across the country. Public services are stretched thin, individuals are tightening their belts, yet our MPs continue to retain their comfort whilst dishing out economically straining decisions. Government representatives should not remain unaffected in the face of national economic hardship. It's sobering to realise that MPs currently earn a basic pay of £79,468 per year, highly disproportionate to the average UK wage of approximately £30,800 (source: Office for National Statistics, 2019).

I personally don't see why we should all struggle while they continue to rake it in. It's time for our MPs to share our burden and demonstrate they are with us. Hence, I'm calling for all MPs to take a 10% pay reduction for the good of the country, aligning themselves more closely with the people they represent. The funds saved could be redirected to boost public services or support the financially vulnerable.

We need to raise our voices so our MPs take steps to incentivise fairness and empathy. Please, sign this petition now and play your part to uphold financial fairness in our country.
