I'm sharing my personal experience, as an individual living on the verge of homelessness in Milton Keynes. Due to unavoidable circumstances, I'm facing housing insecurity. As a neurodivergent individual with my children suspected of the same, my situation is challenging. The mere task of searching for rented accommodation has sent me into overload unable to cope with the constant rejection from landlords that don't accept benefits or ESA's. (the renters reform bill could have helped with this if it had been passed) 

My children are not only thriving in their school, their father is actively involved in their lives, & our support network is firmly rooted in MK.

A setback in my mental health has resulted in not being able to work. This has made securing private housing impossible. With all this, you can see how relocation from MK as suggested by MKCC due to slightly cheaper prices, would further isolate me & my children from our support system & increase my mental health issues

MKCC currently don't operate a choice based letting.  Such a scheme would not only provide better access but allow me & others to have a greater chance of finding somewhere to live. 

About 320,000 people are currently recorded as homeless in the UK, including those in temporary accommodation(Shelter, 2018). We can reduce this number through access to choice-based letting in social housing & ultimately purchasing more houses for the purpose of helping those truly in need.

I've contacted every estate agent with only BORDEOUX saying it doesn't matter if on benefits you just need a garuntor, however all their properties are outside of MK currently. Many estate agents have turnt me away unless earning £33k plus & as a single parent it's not impossible but quite unlikely. 

Please, I urge you to support this petition to require MKCC to adopt a choice-based letting scheme & purchasemore houses. By signing, we can take one step towards enabling better living conditions for the many like me who desperately need it.
