We the undersigned have no confidence in the ability of the New Zealand Commissioner of Police, Andrew Coster, and demand that Minister Poto Williams
request his immediate resignation or sack him.

Over the last 11 days (at the time of starting this petition), Wellington and other towns and cities around New Zealand have been held to ransom by a disparate, leaderless bunch of people and organizations who have - particularly in the case of Wellington/Whanganui-a-Tara - brought the central business district to a stand still. The protesters are forcing businesses to close because their customers are too intimidated to come in; who are vandalizing the grounds of Parliament, which are the most important in New Zealand with the exception of the Treaty Grounds. 

Wellingtonians are angry and frustrated. But they are also being held to ransom by intimidatory tactics, social media content threatening threats of citizens arrest and trial, including "Nuremberg Mk II"*, extreme violence including hanging elected officials, public service workers and the media. How this can still be construed as peaceful is beyond us.

Police Comissioner Coster has been completely absent in his leadership of the Police, who are for the most part, doing a stellar job trying to contain the peace whilst at the same time ensuring Parliament can continue to function.

Wellingtonians have a right to know when they can have their city back. Other parts of New Zealand need to know that if such activity starts in their area, that the New Zealand Police are not going to be a leaderless organization and one that actually enforces the law.

NOTE: This petition is intended to make clear to the Government that the Police Commissioner has lost the confidence of New Zealanders. If the Prime Minister recommends to the Governor General Dame Cindy Kiro that Police Commissioner Coster be dismissed from office, this petition will close immediately.
