Demand Metra to Operate All Lines 24/7

Demand Metra to Operate All Lines 24/7
The Issue
As an advocate for sustainable transportation solutions, I believe that Chicago's Metra should operate all lines 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Currently, most lines run seven days a week, but some like the Heritage Corridor and North Central Service only operate on weekdays. This limited service not only restricts mobility for residents in these areas but also hampers the city's efforts towards promoting sustainable transportation.
Chicago is one of the largest cities in America with a diverse population that relies heavily on public transportation. However, when services such as those provided by Metra are not available round-the-clock or throughout the week, it forces people to resort to less eco-friendly modes of transport.
By ensuring all lines operate 24/7, we can make public transit more accessible and reliable for everyone in Chicago while also contributing significantly towards reducing our carbon footprint. The State of Illinois should buy out the right-of-ways that the trains run on so that they are owned by the state and NOT by private carriers. This may even allow for electrification of the tracks.
While I may not be a resident of Chicago or its vicinity, my advocacy for sustainable transport solutions compels me to stand up for this cause. Let us urge Metra to extend their services so that every line operates seven days a week without interruption. Please sign this petition and support our call for better public transit in Chicago!
