Demand Meta to Stop Suppressing Black Content Creators

Demand Meta to Stop Suppressing Black Content Creators

The Issue

I am a content creator who has been shadow banned by Instagram, a platform under Meta, for over five years. This ban has stunted the growth of my platform that I painstakingly built over 10 years ago. My comments are flagged and my posting and commenting privileges are revoked even when they haven't violated any rules. In fact, I have recorded evidence of a Meta associate admitting that one of my recently flagged comments was not in violation at all.

This is not just about me; it's about countless Black content creators who face similar suppression on Meta platforms. Our livelihoods are affected as we lose access to posting and/or commenting privileges or get shadow banned entirely. We're gaslighted into believing it's the algorithm at fault when in reality, it's the platform failing to properly analyze content for context and accuracy.

This is an issue that needs immediate attention because social media platforms like those owned by Meta play significant roles in our lives today - from personal expression to business promotion. It is crucial these platforms operate with fairness and transparency.

We demand that Meta takes responsibility for its actions, conducts due diligence in flagging content, stops suppressing Black content creators unjustly, and ensures fair treatment across all its platforms.
