Merton Council has decided to install e-bike bays on Abbott Avenue without consulting residents. This move drastically reduces already scarce parking in all of the controlled parking zones, directly affecting those who rely on street parking.

This decision was made behind closed doors, without transparency or community input—disregarding the voices of those who live here. Research (UN-Habitat 2019) shows that proper consultation in urban planning leads to better acceptance and long-term success of such initiatives. In this case, the lack of engagement has only worsened parking struggles for residents.
