As a firm believer in the rights of animals, I am deeply disturbed by the horrific acts of cruelty committed by Terri Mareth Ellis and Karissa Salinas. On December 30, 2022, in Bloomington, Texas, these individuals were found responsible for the death and suffering of numerous helpless animals. The witness accounts the scene was appalling - live animals were found in cages alongside their deceased counterparts; many were starving and visibly unwell.

A neighbor even reported witnessing Karissa Salinas holding a dog by its throat while brutally beating it. This is not just an act of violence but a clear violation of animal rights that cannot be ignored or taken lightly.

Ellis and Salinas are currently facing 11 counts of animal abuse charges. However, we believe this is not enough. We demand they receive the maximum conviction under Texas law - ten years imprisonment and a fine of $10,000 each.

Animal cruelty is an issue that affects us all as it reflects on our society's values towards living beings who cannot defend themselves against human brutality. In America alone, approximately 1 million animals are abused each year (according to Humane Society estimates). This case serves as a stark reminder that we need stricter enforcement of laws against such heinous acts.
