Demand Marion County to Allow Animal Rescues to Operate Unhindered

Demand Marion County to Allow Animal Rescues to Operate Unhindered

The Issue

I am the founder of an animal rescue that has been unjustly targeted by the city council of Marion County, Florida. The council's decision to inhibit animal rescues from operating due to political bias and abuse of power is not only discriminatory but also detrimental to the welfare of animals in our community. Our rescue, along with others, is being prevented from rescuing more than four dogs at a time or fully relocating due to baseless complaints about dog barking and unwarranted calls made by board members and even the mayor himself.

This bias against dogs and their rescuers is not just an attack on us; it's an attack on all those who believe in compassion towards animals. It's estimated that approximately 3.3 million dogs enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). Inhibiting rescues like ours reduces these innocent creatures' chances of finding a safe home.

We are calling upon you, fellow residents of Marion County, Florida, who believe in justice for all beings - human or otherwise - to stand with us against this blatant misuse of power by our city officials. We urge you not only as fellow citizens but as compassionate individuals who understand that every life matters.

Please sign this petition demanding that the city council repeal its decision and allow animal rescues like ours continue their invaluable work without hindrance or discrimination.
