There is a growing concern among parents about the widespread occurrence of head lice in schools. Head lice affect between 6-12 million children in the US each year, creating discomfort, embarrassment, and a risk of spreading the condition (source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). This petition seeks to establish a policy requiring children with head lice to be sent home from school and not be allowed to return until treated. A follow-up check should then be performed by the school nurse to ensure no more lice exist.
