Mike and Alice just received an email from Mike’s doctors saying that Daiichi Sankyo (DSI) will grant Mike access to patritumab deruxtecan (HER3 DXd). DSI still needs to give final approval after the FDA and Dana Farber’s Institutional Review Board approves what’s called a single patient protocol, which basically is a clinical trial for a single person. They are working as quickly as possible, but the process could take up to 8 weeks. We may reach out for advocacy support as things develop but for now, we had to share the "hell, yeah!" attitude that we're all feeling. This was in no way a done deal, and it's truly because of your dogged persistence and care that we're even able to share this positive news.
This group of mighty warriors made this happen and Mike and Alice thank you from the bottom of their hearts. Again, we are not to the finish line, so please be ready if we need you to jump back in. In the meantime, if you sent an email to Ken Keller, CEO at kkeller@dsi.com, please consider following up with a short note of thanks, e.g. Thank you, Ken Keller, for granting Michael Forbes access to HER3 Dxd. You heard our petitions for compassion for this amazing man and for this, we are so very grateful.
Again, you, your friends and family and everyone who reached out are AMAZING and this kind of advocacy not only helped Mike, it also has the potential to help many others in the same situation.
