For far too long, countless biological parents and families across the United States have been left in the dark, suffering the agony of not knowing what happens to their children once placed in the foster care system. These parents, often stripped of their rights and voices, are sometimes not even informed should tragedy strike. Tragically, there are cases where children have died in the custody of foster parents, group homes, or adoptive families without the biological parents being notified. This is not only a grave injustice but a systemic failure that must be addressed immediately.

In my personal experience, and the experiences of many others across all 50 states, we have encountered illegal policies, deceptive practices, and occasionally corrupted individuals within child welfare services, including employees, agencies, foster care systems, and guardians ad litem. These issues have resulted in fabricated evidence and unjust decisions, all while biological families remain powerless and unheard. It's time to demand accountability and change.

We are calling for the enactment of a national law mandating that biological parents be promptly notified of any serious incident, particularly the death of a child, who was in the custody of state welfare, foster care, group homes, or adoptive parents. This law should empower families to regain some measure of the closure and justice they so desperately seek. Furthermore, all individuals and entities, including state representatives, legal practitioners, judges, child welfare employees, and others involved in any form of misconduct or negligence leading to a child's harm, must be held liable and face appropriate consequences.

Statistics have shown alarming cases of misconduct within the child welfare system. A study by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services indicated numerous malpractice incidents in child welfare services, with a significant percentage resulting in tragic outcomes for the children involved. This pattern of disregard can no longer be tolerated.

We urge the leaders and lawmakers of this nation to introduce and pass legislation that safeguards the rights and dignities of biological families while ensuring the welfare of the children.
